While the spring and the fall are definitely the more popular seasons to get married in Washington, DC, there’s just something so beautiful about a winter wedding. The classic buildings look gorgeous in the light of the year’s coldest season, and with a little bit of luck, you can end up with a day that’s not even that chilly! In every sense, Shannon and Jim could not have enjoyed a more beautiful wedding day.
When we first met, Shannon quickly expressed the level of importance music would play in their ceremony at The Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle. It was so wonderful to watch Shannon walk down the aisle toward Jim with the beautiful music being sung. Post-ceremony, the couple exited to cheers from family and friends, and the classic military sword arch awaited them!
Shannon then changed into a gorgeous, traditional Sari to honor Jim’s heritage before being welcomed into their elegant reception at Meridian House through–you guessed it!–a second sword arch! During cocktail hour, guests were able to find their seat via an escort mirror with gold calligraphy. And the classic, elegant winter theme continued into the garland and candle adorned florals designed by Love Blooms. The couple opted for a small wedding cake–which they naturally cut with a sword!–and then added to the large display of delicious desserts from Well Dunn Catering and macarons from Sweet Lobby. Following dinner, they happily danced the night away under the warm glow of the stunning chandeliers.
It was such a pleasure being a part of Shannon & Jim’s wedding, helping to bring the details to life and make sure everything went off without a hitch. I cannot thank Anna Schmidt Photography enough for capturing their day so beautifully!
